Signs Your Jerith Roofing Is Failing

• Lifted or “oil-canned” panels between seams. This is thermal expansion stress on a fixed clip that has seized or a floating clip installed with the wrong leg height. The panel buckles instead of sliding, and the paint cracks at the stress point, opening the metal to Oakland’s salt-laden fog.
• Rust streaks originating at fastener heads. Jerith used zinc-coated fasteners with a painted head; when the paint film fails, usually at year 12-15 in coastal Oakland, the galvanic reaction starts.
