Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s window and door lines changed naming conventions twice since 2010, so the part you need depends on which era your unit came from. The Restoration Series and Preservation Series vinyl double-hungs from the 2012-2019 run used a proprietary constant-force balance with a black nylon shoe that CertainTeed later superseded - the new shoe is gray, but the channel width stayed 9/16-inch, so the swap works if you match the shoe color to your vintage. Buffalo Forge and Monadnock wood-clad units carry a stamped metal tag on the top of the sash rail with a six-digit SKU; without that tag, we measure jamb depth, sash thickness, and check the glazing bead profile to reverse-identify the part.

For doors, the Panorama sliding patio line and Encore entry door systems used two different multipoint locking mechanisms. The earlier Panorama handle set (pre-2016) had a 45-degree keyway; post-2016 shifted to 90 degrees, and the gearboxes do not interchange. We carry both on the truck. • Door handle turns but the multipoint bolts don’t retract. The gearbox inside the mortise mechanism has stripped, usually from forcing the handle when the door is out of square. We see this often in older Oakland homes where the foundation has settled and the frame has racked; fixing only the gearbox without checking plumb leaves you back in the same spot within a year.
• Screen frame is bent or the mesh is sagging. The extruded aluminum frame has taken an impact or the spline has dried and lost grip.
